What is Airbrush Makeup?

Airbrush is the process of applying liquid foundation using an air compressor and fine nozzle that sprays the foundation onto the skin. This application method can create light to full coverage that is not heavy or cakey appearing. There are pros and cons to this application, and if you are having difficulty deciding on airbrush or traditional makeup, see the pro and cons list below to help you decide!

Pro: Long Lasting

Airbrush foundation is silicone based and was made to last. This means you can dance, hug, kiss, cry and sweat without worrying about touching up your makeup. Airbrush gives you 24 hour coverage that will not budge.

Con: Can be Flaky

It is crucial to prep the skin before airbrush application. If skin is dry, dehydrated or flaky, airbrush will apply in the same way. Make sure to exfoliate and moisturize leading up to the wedding day. If you have texture to your skin, traditional foundation may be a better option for you.

Pro: Flawless Finish

Airbrush creates a flawless finish by using compressed air to spray fine particles of foundation on the skin. It also plays nicely with other products and creates a perfect base for layering. Coverage can also vary from light to full without appearing too heavy or cakey.

Con: Hard to Re-blend

Airbrush is hard to redo if there has been a mistake or if you want a change. Silicone based products have lasting power that needs to be removed with soap and water. Make sure to hire a makeup artist with experience with airbrush so this decreases the chance of mistakes. Another tip is to blot away tears instead of wipe!
